Update for Y11 parent/carers from Mrs Jones
Update for Y11 parent/carers which has been emailed out.
Dear Parent/Carer
I would like to take this opportunity to share with you, a link to a document that details the assessments that will be used to inform the teacher assessed grades that schools are being asked to submit for this summer’s GCSE and A-level results. This document will also be shared on Classcharts with yourself and your child. In addition, I have asked subject teachers to share and discuss the assessment record for their subject with their Year 11 and 13 students.
Please follow the link below to see the range of assessments that will be used as the evidence base for teacher judgements. Please do not worry if your child has missed any of the assessments listed; we are able to amend our assessment records accordingly without it necessarily having a negative impact on the grades that your child is awarded this summer. Most Year 11 students have a full compliment of assessments for all subjects but where this is not the case, or where the evidence base requires strengthening, we may need to ask your child to complete additional assessments up to and including the week beginning 7th June. All grades have to be internally quality assured and submitted to the exam boards no later than the 18th June. GCSE results will be published on the 12th of August and we hope to be able to hold a results day. We will write to you in due course to confirm the arrangements for this. Details of the appeals process will also be shared with you.
Leaving date:
Year 11 will finish on Thursday 27th May at approximately 12pm. If you would like us to supervise your child until the end of the school day (on 27th), please contact Mrs Flint and we will ensure that supervision is put into place.
Sixth Form Taster Experience
We would like to invite our Year 11 students back into school for a 6th Form Experience Event which we plan to run from Thursday 10th June until Friday 25th June. We would like to use this time to provide our potential 6th formers with a ‘taste’ of BCS Sixth Form, both in a pastoral and academic capacity. Ms Cruse, our Head of Sixth Form, will confirm the arrangements for this event very soon. Year 11 students will be asked to attend up to 6 lessons across each of the 3 A-Level subjects they have applied to study. It is important to note that attendance at this event does not guarantee a place on these courses; places are still subject to the GCSE entry criteria being met.
I would like to thank you for all your support across what has been a very challenging 14 months. If your child is leaving BCS this summer we wish them all the very best and if they plan to return, we are looking forward to working with you again in September.
Your sincerely
Mrs Sam Jones - Deputy Headteacher
