Maths students welcome the University of Sheffield
Dr Roukema takes time out of his busy schedule to visit Buxton Community School
Maths students were pleased to welcome Dr Roukema from The University of Sheffield . Year 11 students working hard preparing for GCSE examinations, are also considering their next steps. Dr Roukema came in to deliver a taster lecture for those considering Maths beyond Year 11. The general interest lecture started discussions on geometry, starting with common shapes and progressing to the more complex Mobius strip. Some of our sixth form students also had the chance to sit down and chat about the maths they find interesting and what to expect from university courses in Maths, IT and Physics.
Miss Murray and all the students would like to say a huge thank you to Dr Roukema and The University of Sheffield, for such an inspiring afternoon!
