Sixth Form Information Evening
Come along to learn more about our Sixth Form
Dear Parent/Carer
Firstly, please let me apologise for messing you around. As you know, due to rising Covid cases in our area, the school made the decision last term to postpone our October Post 16 evening. This was re-scheduled for January but after Christmas the risks of mass gatherings in school were greater, so the event was cancelled again.
Given yesterday’s Government announcement about the lifting of restrictions, the numbers of cases locally falling sharply and the very limited number of students with Covid my keenness to meet with you and your child now far outweighs any potential risks.
I would therefore like to invite you to our Sixth Form Study Centre on Thursday 27th January (please use the main Reception entrance), where I will give a presentation on life at BCS Sixth Form and you will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. We won’t be able to offer the usual subject fair where staff are on hand to discuss their subjects and so, for the moment, will have to rely on the information on our website but I will ensure that students get the opportunity to meet with staff and ask questions about their next steps.
To keep numbers down and therefore minimise any risks I will run three talks during the evening, and ask that only one parent/carer accompanies each student:
- 6:00 pm –parents/carers & students from each of forms 11WTH and 11 SCS (and external students)
- 6:30 pm – parents/carers & students from each of forms 11WWH and 11 NCL (and external students)
- 7:00 pm – parents/carers & students from forms 11BTS and 11 BKR (and external students)
If it is genuinely difficult to make the time allocated, please contact me first so that I can keep track of numbers.
I would very much hope that by the time we hold an induction programme for these students after their GCSEs in June we can meet again without restrictions and I really look forward to meeting you next week.
Best wishes
Jackie Cruse - Head of Sixth Form
