Lest We Forget

Remembrance

The 11th day of the 11th month saw our Gothic Hall packed with Sixth Formers and staff to remember those who gave their lives for our freedom.

Mr Buckley delivered a thought-provoking service remembering various wars and the links with nature.  Readings and poems were wonderfully read by Will Jones, Minette Warrillow-Ward and Mrs Jackie Cruse and Tom Crispin played a breathtaking rendition of the Last Post.  A minute's silence was heard throughout the school to show our respect and gratitude.

As always, during the service, we remembered former student Royal Marine Scott Gregory Taylor who was tragically killed in Afghanistan in 2010.

Following the service, a poppy wreath was laid in the sixth form garden under the tree which was planted in memory of Scott.

We also had many students who took part in the Remembrance Service on The Slopes on Sunday, representing their army, air and sea cadet troops. We are tremendously proud of them all.
