BCS and Chatsworth House Collaborative Project
BCS are thrilled to be designing and selling Christmas decorations at Chatsworth House again this year.
For the 5th year, Christmas decorations designed by Buxton Community School students have gone on sale in the Orangery Gift Shop at Chatsworth House.
In May this year, 15 year 9 students visited Chatsworth, where they had a private guided tour of the house and then met with the Buyers. They discussed this year’s brief which included the disclosure of the theme for decorating the house this year.
Back in school, they worked on their designs over the next few weeks before returning to pitch their ideas to the Buyers, with presentations and samples of the decorations they had designed and manufactured.
To quote Sue Shafie, Head Buyer at Chatsworth, “Yet again, Buxton Community School produced a wide and varied range of samples that were of a very high standard and should be congratulated”
In total, Chatsworth have ordered 700 decorations this year, taking the quantity sold in the gift shop over the past few years to over 4000!
The decorations for this year’s theme “Once Upon a Time” have just gone on sale, retailing at £5.99 each. Last time the 600 that they ordered sold out in just 12 days so you may need to be quick to see them!
The students will return to Chatsworth soon for another visit to see the house decorated for Christmas and their decorations on sale in the gift shop.
